About Me

My photo
My name is Sonja, I am 23 years old, and happily married to my best friend, Chris (a.k.a Hubby Man). I love being with my family and friends, watching movies with the hubby(we are HUGE movie buffs), or curled up on the couch with a nice cup of coffee and my two babies. (pepper ann our rescue mutt, and Witten our pug). Life is an adventure to me, and every day I look forward for what is to come. Hopefully sooner than later our happy little family will be expanding, and I couldn't be happier!

That Crazy Kind of Weekend....

First I'd like to say to all my followers, friends, co-workers, family and so on. Sorry I only update once a week... I feel like my week days are too 'going through the motions' and then everything happens at once on the weekends.

All this week my poor babies had been acting sick. They would go back and forth so Friday I got them both a vet apt. I got to drive them to work with me for an hour and show them off before leaving to the vet. Turns out everything is OK and they just need to finish a round on some meds and get a little better.

After a long week of trying to fight it, I finally had to give my car of nearly seven years up :(. I have had 'trooper' since I was 16 and I was determined to drive him until he just couldn't go anymore.... That day came.... but I am now a very proud owner of a brand new 2012 Chevy Cruz! I spent the entire afternoon in my car driving it around town! I love it!

After getting settled in with my new ride, I headed off to a baby shower. It was so much fun! and did not help my baby fever at all... (it's almost here though!!) such cute decorations done by my very creative sister-in-law and Haley got some great gifts!

Today was the amazing trip to the Zoo! I am beyond wore out, but we had such an amazing time with the family. Watching my niece's face when she saw all the animals was priceless! I can't wait to take her back very soon!

Some of My Favorites...

In other news, Friday after work, I was walking back to my can and landed on a rusty nail! it's went straight through my shoe! (can you say ouch?!) luckily it just poked my foot and the shoe caught most of the stick. Regardless, my happy butt will be going to the Dr. on Monday for a tetanus shot! (boo!)

Ideas and Other Things

This past week has been very eventful.

Saturday was great! My best friend since 2nd grade came and spent a lazy afternoon watching movies with me. We decided we wanted some icecream, so we drove to the nearest Dairy Queen. First I ordered my three blizzards for me, my hubby man, and father-in-law. After Sarah ordered her brownie earthquake, that is when the real fun started.

This poor kid had the hardest time ever with this thing! first he dropped it, then ran out of whipped cream, and ended up with hot fudge all over his hand. While this poor boy struggled to make her dessert, the drive-thru lady dropped her large dipped cone in the chocolate dip!
Long story short, we left DQ with three blizzards, one large brownie earth quake, and a large chocolate covered sundae! (can you say 'score'?)

Sunday was a fish fry at my mom's. (And I was doing so good at my diet this past week....oh well...) I had such a great time with family I hadn't seen in awhile. Next weekend we are going to be just as busy! I feel like I never stop some times! Baby shower on Saturday, then bringing my super adorable niece to the Zoo on Sunday! I can't wait!

As far as ideas go, I have so many I can't wait to do for baby bink (or binks) :

As far as 'announcing' my pregnancy, those are all to remain surprises until they are prepared and preformed :) (it's going to be hard enough surprising as it is. Everyone already knows we will be trying, so I'm sure if I even hint towards exciting/big news, it wont be hard to guess.) This is where my acting skills will have to come into play.

The pregnancy itself, I really want to do a photo time laps! I think it is such a fun way to show how much you change in just a short nine months. I would also love to change this into first+ years of the baby's life, I want to Cherish every moment of baby bink as he, or she grows. It would be really neat to play the film at your kids wedding also. :)

Gender reveal party, I have tossed ideas back and forth. I love the balloon idea, I think it makes such a beautiful picture. It also captures a great moment in time, but I am all about originality... I'm sure I can come up with something great!

Names, Hubby man and I have put a lot of thought into these over the last four years, and have the perfect ones picked out! They also are to remain secret for now. I will share the middle names though. We have picked out four names, two for boys and two for girls. (we only plan on two kids, but what if I have twin girls and have to come up with two girl names fast??)

  • The first boy will be named after Chris: N. Neal.
  • The second boy will be after my brother <3: J. Curtis.
  • Our first girl will be after my mother: J. Kay.
  • Then our second girl will be after Chris' Sister: H. Nicole

SO much thought goes into these names. I knew I wanted to stay with family, but I had to come up with first names I liked also. Chris and I made a long list of names we both liked, then a list of possible middle names. I wanted it to turn out where one child was after him and one after me regardless. (of two boys, one of each, or two girls.)

Baby shower activities, I have wanted to have onesie decorating forever! I am actually going to start buying my onesies and supplies very soon so I can have enough. The idea of having hand made onsies from all my family and friends is such a fun idea! Of course, there will be a prize for the best outfit. :)

As you can see, it's on my mind a lot! the time is almost here! I am practically counting down the days!

Simple Pleasures

(me, very bored)
This weekend couldn't have been better. Hubby and I both got off early on Friday and decided to take a lunch date, then coffee with my mom for desert. We ran and picked up a few movies afterward then watched one when we got home. (Have I mentioned we adore movies??) If you haven't seen Real Steal, I highly suggest you watch it. (it's very, Rocky, meets iRobot)

Saturday we slept in, then enjoyed a very fun shopping trip to the mall. I spent way too much then came home very happy with my new summer wardrobe, he he. We then hit the road for a very fun crawfish boil with the in-laws! I have such a great time being with family. You haven't experienced the simple pleasures of life if you have never sat around with great company for a crawfish boil.

(Hubby and I, enjoying some crawfish)
Today of course was church, such a good message. Next weekend, my father-in-law will be moving in with us. I'm so nervous/excited about all the changes that will be coming in the next year for us! I can't even put into words my feelings. I truly love my life, and everyone I share it with.

Defiantly be looking for some very humorous blogs to come. With three Behnken's living under one roof there is no telling what kind of crazy things we will get ourselves into.

Fun in the Sun!

This weekend was definitely amazing. I had such a great time spending Easter weekend with some amazing friends and my wonderful hubby.

Saturday morning I did some light house cleaning and spent a very relaxing, fun day at the beach with some of my amazing co-workers! I really couldn't be more blessed with the great people I work with every day. They all brought their kids, I of course went alone (guess which adult spent all their time playing in the ocean with the kids??) I had such a fun time, I am definitely sun burnt from my head to my feet though... maybe I'll tan?? (those of you who know me well enough, know this means I have no chance...)

Easter Morning, Hubby Man and I enjoyed a nice slow morning of sleeping in, and drinking some yummy coffee. Church this morning was great, very inspirational. I am so blessed to have a God that loves me so much, He sent His only son to die for me. After church we enjoyed a great afternoon at my mom's and bought the movie Courageous. I loved everything about that movie! I'm so glad that one day Chris is going to be a man of courage, one of the worlds greatest Dad's. I am so proud to have him in my life, and the future father to my children.

I hope every one of you enjoyed this beautiful weekend. Happy late Easter!

Just One of Those Weeks

I havent had much inspiration the last few days. I would say, more like writers block. then all my exciting things happened at once! Yesterday I found my ring! it was just sitting on a perfume bottle above my jewlery box. I was very excited! I found it right before Hubby man's boss took us out to dinner :)
(note to self:always where wedding ring when you are being introduced and 'my wife') couldnt have been better timing. Dinner with the manager was very good! we had Saltgrass, which is always a hit in my book, and lots of good conversation.

I found out yesterday my amazing beautiful friend and hubby's cousin (we played match maker) will be expecting a baby girl mid september! I am very very happy for them and wish them all the best! I can't wait until that is chris and I. I have so many fun idea;s for my gender reveal party and maternity pictures. (I am very sure I think or talk about babies all day...) I already have a really fun way to announce it to chris! (I of course can't tell you yet though, he might be reading. ;)

Today I took our rescue dog Pepper to her first puppy training class, she did pretty good. I know she is a good dog, and very very smart, I just never took the time to train her, or ever learn how for that matter. All the other dogs there were very loud and much bigger than Pepper. It made her very ancy. I really hope she can get it down soon though, practice makes perfect! Being tied up with a leash and ignored when you say sit was a very reassuring way to start...

I hope you all have a very happy Easter!

I Believe I Promised Pictures.

The Nursery room is painted and over all finished. (of course I still need pregnancy, and gender, and furniture... but at least the paint is done!) Like I said before, we currently use this room for computer/second guest room. I swear this is the nicest room in our house. Hubby man and I have a habit of not finishing projects, so a lot of the painting, etc. goes untouched. or we move to the next room before doing all the work in the last. In this case however, we got everything taken care of before we moved on to the next project! (I am proud of us)
I basically spend all of my free time in this room, I absolutely love how nice it feels!
We added new blinds, a ceiling fan, and a nice fresh coat of paint. I'm REALLY excited for the day I get to start filling it with baby things, but I don't want to jump the gun too early...

I know it is bare right now, but if you have seen the before pictures, you would want to spend all your free time in this room as well...

Sometimes you Just Have to Splurge

On my lunch break today I decided I didn't feel like driving anywhere to grab some food, the closest place to me is CiCi's Pizza. Normally this is no big deal, I get my $3.25 salad to-go, and walk back to work. Well today was different, I continued with my normal routine until I got to the register. "Would you like your usual salad?" (this girl is always at the register)

UGH! why does pizza have to smell so good?

I broke down and got the buffet. No wonder I hit that plato! I can't shut my trap from yummy delicious food. Looks like the yoga mat and I will be hitting up our usual (or not so usual here-of-late) work out plan. Getting in shape is no fun, but I have until June (July if you ask Chris Ha Ha)! I can make it. :)

On a completely different topic, my wedding ring has vanished! I can't find this thing anywhere! I have basically flipped my house upside down, and I sure hope I find it soon. I know it has to be in this house somewhere. Prayers I find it.

Thanks for reading! I have some cardio to get to before my many Monday TV shows begin.

Jaynen Faye

Last night Hubby Man and I (mostly I) took on the task of watching my friends beautiful baby girl, 1 month old Jaynen. We have done this before with our niece Brooklyn, when she was about 3-4 months old... she is nearly three now. Needless to say it has been a very long time since we have watched a newborn.

This night was my first night ever to bathe a newborn. Let's just say, it was a sight to see. Who would have thought a baby could be that slippery?? Sure am glad I lined the sink with every washcloth we own. By the end of this bath, I ended up with more water on me than on the baby! After we all got tucked in, Jaynen only woke up twice to eat 2:30 & 6:30.

Things I learned:
1) babies are very demanding (of course I knew this but I got a preview last
night)
2) Forget the save money hype, and purchase a newborn bath. (it's ok to
splurge on some things)
3) Maternity leave is going to be a great thing (how anyone thinks they can
continue with their normal life, on that little of sleep every day is
insane)
4)I feel very sorry for single parents.
5) Always remember to take you allergy meds, (waking up for that two a.m.
feeding, and learning that your allergies hit you full force while you where
sleeping is no fun at all.)
6) Babies like to be rocked, purchase a rocking chair!

After Jaynen left, I got me a yummy lunch from Chilli's, and took a nice two hour nap! I am
so glad I got to help my friend, and don't mind doing it again soon. I just look
forward to getting some sleep tonight!
